Nadia won the prize for best oral presentation along with 3 other PhD students🔬🎉

September 2, 2025

2 weeks ago Nadia Bom Pedersen presented her PhD project at the Drug Research Academy (DRA) summer school 2025 and won the prize for best oral presentation along with 3 other PhD students. Massive congratulations on this achievement and the excellent presentation of your research! 🔬🎉

Nadias PhD project focuses on astatine chemistry, with the aim of improving the stability of the carbon–astatine bond, a key challenge in developing astatine-based radiopharmaceuticals.
The research investigates different chemical motifs that could enhance bond stability, including small molecular scaffolds with neighboring substituents, guanidinomethyl functionalization, and neopentyl glycol scaffolds. These are evaluated through synthesis and biological assays to understand how they behave under metabolic conditions. By identifying strategies that make astatine-containing molecules more stable, this project contributes to the development of new tools for targeted cancer therapy.
